Ed Bonfilio graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, College of Fine Arts with a degree in Architecture. Ed is classically trained in both architecture and painting. His painting teachers (in person) include Josef Albers of Bauhaus fame, James Robertson, (renderer), Paul Goodrich and King Coffin. Teachers (by book) include Simon Nicolaides and Emile Gruppe. Ed has drawn extensively from life, townscape and landscape. Ed's paintings are, "Plein Air," paintings that are painted outside and entirely on site.
Ed's theory of painting, simply put, is to connect directly to the world he loves and to present this connection as painting, painting that is plastic, tactile and expresses form through light and color.
